The Current Periodicals & Microforms Center, located on the first floor of Malcolm A. Love Library, has current periodicals, library materials in microform, and a collection of U.S. and foreign newspapers. Photocopiers and equipment for using microforms (readers and reader-printers) are also located in the Center.

Current Periodicals

Current periodicals are located in the Current Periodicals & Microforms Center (1st Floor) until they are either bound or received in microform.

Library periodicals may be searched by Title on the PAC or by using the SDSU Periodicals list.

Materials sent to the bindery will be indicated in the PAC and can be tracked by date on the Binding Shipment Information page.

Periodicals in languages other than English may be found by doing a Subject search for Foreign language periodicals.

Microforms

The principal types of microforms are 35 mm roll microfilm and 3 x 5" or 4 x 6" microfiche sheets. A few collections are in microprint on 5-3/4 x 9" cards. In the Center, microforms are arranged by accession number according to type:

Library materials in microform may be located by searching the PAC.

Newspapers

The Center subscribes to over 100 U.S. and foreign newspapers. Dailies from several major United States and a few California cities are retained in newsprint format up to three weeks. Newspapers of research interest are retained in microform and may be used with the help of indexes located in the Reference Services. The collection includes extensive runs of The Times (London), The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune and others.

Other library newspapers may be searched by Title on the PAC. Newspapers in languages other than English may be found by doing a Subject search for Foreign language newspapers.

Special Sources

The Current Periodicals and Microforms Center collection includes the Statistical Reference Index (SRI microfiche) to statistical data published by trade and business organizations, commercial publishers, research centers, and state government agencies. Other collections housed in the Center are American Public Opinion Data (C-2251), Sabin Collection (C-2130), History of Women (F-704, 962 reels), Western Americana (F-2469, 617 reels), Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps (San Diego) (F-3821 & F-3803), SEC File (C-2486), and Value Line Investment Survey (C-2610).

Desk staff are available to assist you in locating and using current periodicals, microforms, and newspapers.

Group Study Rooms

Five group study rooms are currently available on Love Library First Floor. These rooms are open and available to study groups of three or more students on a first-come, first-use basis (No room reservation required)
