Friends of the SDSU Library Named Endowments
Friends of the Library: |
Academic libraries reflect many of the characteristics of their parent institutions. The Library at San Diego State University is no exception, and in emulating the qualities that make San Diego State the flagship of The California State University system, the Library must be progressive. The Library has moved steadily to expand and enhance its services, responding to the challenges of the information age while ensuring that it meets the demands of the University's academic and research programs.
A gift of $10,000 or more creates a permanent endowment, which may bear the donor's name(s), or the names of their loved ones. It provides funds that keep on giving; only a percentage of the earned income from an endowment is used, while the principal remains forever intact.
Several endowments currently exist, and we welcome additional contributions to these endowments. Many of them are designated to help particular subject areas.
- Materials Endowment Fund (books and journals): The interest on the money in this
fund is used to purchase books and journals, in all formats, while never spending the principal
amount. This fund guarantees that there will always be resources to maintain support of the
Library's general collections.
- James and Mary Crouch Endowment: The income from this endowment benefits the deans
priority projects in San Diego State University Library.
- Mary Gleason McLeod Memorial Fund: The income from this endowment is unrestricted
and used to support the deans priorities in library collections and services.
- Alan J. Gruber Endowment: The income from this endowment is used to purchase curricular materials in Math, Music, Linguistics or Foreign Languages.
- Jerome M. Sattler Endowment: The income from this endowment is used to purchase PsycInfo back files and support for Interlibrary Loan as well as the psychology collections.
- Environmental Resources Endowment: The income from this endowment is used to purchase environmental resource material.
- Josephson Family Children's Endowment: The income from this endowment is used to purchase children's materials.
With your help, we can meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. To make a contribution to any of the above endowments please use our Online Donation Form. If you would like to establish an endowment please contact Gloria Rhodes (619) 594-1169 grhodes@mail.sdsu.edu.
