Life Science Building and Annex

(formerly the Science Building)

Life Science Building Annex

Built in 1930 to serve as the original science building, the Life Science Building exemplifies Howard Spencer Hazen's Mission Revival design: white-washed stucco, red-tile roof, and arched doorways. In 1942, the Life Science Building Annex was added, which contained some of the later Moorish influences found in the Communications and the Exercise and Nutritional Sciences buildings.

The building continues to serve as it was initially intended: as a facility for teaching and for laboratories and faculty offices. Many of the offices and laboratories overlook the lovely Mediterranean garden courtyard with its green lawns and exotic plants.
